Why is it that my messenger at work & my messenger on my pda & my messenger at home ALL have different info?

I have noticed that everytime I sign into my messenger, its different on all of my computer access points. None of my contacts, etc. seem to be moving over to whatever machine I am using. Help!

Are all the messengers the same version? some could be newer then others. :)
